AMAC Supports Election Integrity in Pennsylvania

Election integrity should begin long before a ballot is cast. Accurate voter rolls strengthen confidence in election results for all Pennsylvanians.

Dear Senator Brooks,

On behalf of AMAC Action, the advocacy affiliate of the Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC), with over 2 million members nationwide, including over 91,000 in Pennsylvania, I write in support of SB 1429, Modernizing Pennsylvania’s Voter Rolls.

Maintaining accurate and up-to-date voter rolls is a fundamental component of election integrity and public confidence in the democratic process. Pennsylvania voters should be able to trust that the Commonwealth’s voter registration records accurately reflect eligible voters while providing appropriate safeguards for lawful registration and participation.

SB 1429 takes important steps to strengthen Pennsylvania’s voter-roll maintenance procedures by improving the processes used to identify and address outdated, duplicate, and otherwise inaccurate registration records. The legislation also strengthens procedures concerning deceased registrants, requires greater accountability in list-maintenance activities, and improves coordination of information that can help election officials keep registration records current.

These reforms are particularly important because inaccurate voter rolls can persist when information is not efficiently communicated among the government entities responsible for maintaining those records. Establishing clearer procedures and accountability will provide election officials with better tools to maintain accurate voter lists while helping protect the integrity of Pennsylvania’s elections.
